Creating handmade gifts with wool, tweed and love
Handmade Moments is a small independent business established in Renfrewshire, Scotland, starting a few years ago as a natural progression from making cards and gifts for family and friends. I design and make all our products by hand (or sewing machine!) and I love to use natural fabrics such as Harris Tweed, wool stuffing and cotton lawn from Liberty.
I am inspired by nature and my surroundings. I love to go for a walk through a tree filled park or along a lochside or seaside beach. I love the turquoise waters and sandy beaches of Coll, the bright spring colours of tulips and the colours of the leaves in autumn.
I am also inspired by the rich textile history of the town I grew up in. Paisley was the home of weaving, the Paisley Pattern and the Paisley shawl. It was also the home and beginnings of the Coats and Clark thread mills where generations of women in my family worked.
In 2018 I was lucky to be accepted as part of Renfrewshire Council's creative business incubator programme, InCube. I gained so much knowledge on how to grow my creative business and learn all the practical admin bits I need to keep my business going. I met so many lovely people during this time and I'm very thankful for all the help InCube gave me.
The next year will hopefully see the growth of Handmade Moments with more stockists around Scotland. Keep your eyes on my Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages for stockist updates. Details of current and new stockists can be found on the Stockists page linked at the bottom of the page.
